News and Releases for the X8

Feeling down about the FreeXperia Team dropping support for the 2010 Xperia ARMv6 range?  Fear not, the development scene is as busy as ever:

The latest x8 firmware news and releases from the  XDA forums are as follows:

GingerDX | v018 – lightweight based on Gingerbread from the CM nightlies with optimised DX libraries

GingerCyBorg 2.3.5 | v005 – Based on GingerDX but with HoneyComb features

GingerCruzt Revision 7.5 – I don’t know much about this but you can read more about it on Frogy Furnetal’s blog

Gingerbread 2.3.5 for X8 | Based on MiniCM7 – a build based on MiniCM7 to look like an official SE release

Ice Cream Sandwich <- GingerDX – GingerDX made to look like Android 4.0/ICS

[Module] X8MDDI – no more MDDI lags! | X8 | X10 mini | X10 mini pro | v001 – This isn’t a custom firmware but a module for developers to cook into their releases, hopefully this will give us all better performance in future releases.

If you’re not up to date, or starting out from scratch here’s some links to get your device rooted and a recovery installed:

Rooting from stock (2.1)

ClockworkMod Recovery 4.0.1.5

If you’ve tested or use any of the firmware listed please give  feedback to other users via the comments.
