Okay it is important for you to read this page from top to bottom if you don’t have any exprience with custom rom.
1)What is custom rom?
Custom rom is a custom operating system that can be install to your phone to replace the Sony Ericsson one on your phone.
2)What’s the benefit of this so called custom rom?
Well first, it’s not builded on that old rotten android 2.1 but rather android 2.2 and beyond and therefore the performance is improve significantly. Android 2.2 is twice as fast as 2.1 and android 2.3 is 25% daster than android 2.2.
And the you got others features of android 2.2 and 2.3, most notably native app2sd support which allow you to move application from internal memory to your sd card.
Due to our processor not supporting it, flash will not be available on the xperia mini, mini pro and x8.
3)What’s the requirement?
First you need to root your phone and install xrecovery.
4)What is root?
No, it’s not that buttom part of a tree. It’s a term of giving users (you) root access.
Now all android phones is not rooted by default. It means that users can’t access nor modify the android system. Sort of like the inability to access the C system folder on Window. And without that access, we can’t really do anything in the androud internal system.
5)What is xrecovery?
The xrecovery mod can be based described as a menu of tools you can access by pressing the back button during boot up. In here, you can completely back up and restore and most importantly flash custom rom.
Now the flashing custom rom is the actual process of replacing the software in your phone. Now for that you need to download the software file usually in form of a zip file. The all you need to do is to click install custom zip and find that particular zip.
6)Where can I find the tutorial to install it?
Just go to the root and xrecovery section.
7)I got problems with the the custom rom
You can post your proble at the installatiom thread bit make sure you visit the help/common issue first. I’ll be updating the post regularly.
8) What’s the risk of installing custom rom?
Well, here’s the thing, sony ericsson doesn’t really like that we replace their precious software so technically you will have void your warranty when you root your phone. If you are having software related problem, see the I killed your phone section under help. If you have hardware problem, I strongly recommend you wipe all evidence of custom rom in your phone before sending it to sony ericsson using clean reinstall with pc suite or sony update service.
Make sure you understand that there’s risk of bricking your phone but it’s usually fixable and as long as you follow the instruction to the letter, that won’t happen.
Thanks you for reading this now proceed to the installation thread or close this tab.
